I also have a question. Do any of you have problems adjusting the truss rod? The problem I have is that I have to loosen the A and the D string if the Allen wrench shaped truss rod hole doesn’t line up with the actual Allen wrench itself. Sometimes I have to tilt it but the strings are blocking the angle. It irritates me cause than I think:” New American jazz basses don’t have that problem.....”. than I have GAS for a new bass and that’s exactly what I don’t want anymore. I don’t know why I write this but I just wanna share it I think

Hi,

I was wondering if any of you have gone through the process of ordering a Sandberg from Europe and having it shipped here to the U.S. I inquired with Thomann regarding a specific bass and their response is below. Looks like I would need to acquire an import license and deal with the CITES rosewood requirements. Anybody done it?

"As of January 2017, every commercial transaction outside of the EU containing products with rosewood must be accompanied by a CITES re-export certificate.

So there are a few points we need to clarify with you in advance:

1. The export license must be processed by multiple government offices and this requires a long time, often about 8 weeks.

2. The order must be shipped with UPS and the price for this service from Germany to your country would be approximately 50,00 € in shipping charges (customs clearance not included).

3. The CITES item will need to be sent in its own order therefore, any other items ordered would be shipped separately and require additional shipping fees.

4. You will also be responsible for acquiring an import license from your government (may result in additional fees) so the shipment can be processed through your local customs office.

If you agree to these additional charges and accept that we have no control over the timeline in regards to the processing time of the export certificate nor the additional time (and money) your local customs office may need for processing, you can order online."

I have just been looking to add either a VM4 or VM5 to my collection. I already have a TM2-4 String HCA which is my No.1.

I am in the UK and looking at the usual dealers, Bass Direct, Guitar Guitar, PMT and of course Thomann in Germany. Has anyone else noticed that the supply of VM4 and VM5's is extremely limited. There is hardly any in stock anywhere and the ones that are available are a lower spec or White :vomit:.

There is a massive choice of TM2, TM4/5 & TT's though.

I am curious to know whether this is because the VM's are just more popular being more of a 'precision' type bass rather than the TM /TT Jazz style one's?

I may look to order a custom order, although a 9-month minimum wait doesn't fill me with joy..

I’m in the UK as well mate and it swings in roundabouts, but for the most part I agree.
If you like the aged basses then yes there is a dearth globally on them unless they are new over here.
If you do not mind or gloss finish then there are some out there, for example my mate picked up a tobacco aged one for £600-bargain!

Me, I have a MarloweDK, TT and a VS4 and I have never seen anything like the ones I have since getting them.

There is a similar bass site to this and Basschat in Germany, the name escapes me, but you are free to go on there and you will see more Sandbergs for sale alongside eBay, gumtree and Facebook

Yeah I like the relics. My TM2 is a Metallic Orange Hardcore Aged and I love it. Fancied a HCA VT4 or 5. I actually really like the Marlowe DK too.

I think I’m going to Custom Order this one. I’ve been in the configurator tonight and may pop to Bass Direct tomorrow and place the order. Should be a perfect partner for my TM2

@FacStudio that's a beauty mate and you well get pats on the back for that one, you won’t see a VT like that.
If you like a VM have you considered a Forty Eight?
That’s the pick up config, just a different body.
Classic and cool guitars in Devon have one for sale (he also has it on eBay) in Metallic Orange.
He is actually a registered Sandberg dealer and a really nice guy to boot

Also if you like the MarloweDK it’s a legend bass, the super skinny neck is a joy to play, bridge pup slightly further back gives it more bite and I like the different ageing compared to the others.
Have you considered the Marlowe but maybe in the Orange if they do it?
I would also strongly consider Haeussel pick ups as well compared to the Sandberg in house ones and delano.
Delano more HiFi, Sandbergs more vintage, but haeussel vintage but hotter and more of a mid push to the sound

@FacStudio ir you are Midlands way you know there is a Music’s Live event at PMT Birmingham?
Chris Child’s if Thunder will be showing off his new Sandberg sig bass called Enigma and you may be able to pick up a Sandy there as Sandberg will be there, or order from the horses mouth.

May be worth a shout

Try Maruszczyk basses! The “Jake” bass is comparable with the VM4. www.public-peace.de

@FacStudio Reverse headstock is actually pretty cool mate; the only downside being if you want to fit a D tuner to it it slightly counter intuitive, may not quite fit and is far away.
Otherwise honestly apart from remembering which peg to turn to tune you forget about it and just get on looking very cool.

@FacStudio that is a killer bass, nice work.

I get the reverse thing, I pontificated about getting my one as I was not sure like you, but in the end I got it second hand. What killed the deal for me was how unique it was, plus the Haeussel pick ups, there will not be many if any basses like it alive.
Skeptical even when it arrived on the look, I was even skeptical about a maple fingerboard but just love it and do not think about it whatsoever, E String is nice and tight still, rings harmonically and I like to downtune.

Whatever you decide, you will not go wrong with a Sandberg!
