I can't answer that mate as mine is active, not sure how much difference there will be sound wise between the 2. What I do know is that the few bass player mates who have played mine ( one has been singing and playing bass for U J Roth) says that my Jazz feels, plays and sounds better than any other J style he has played, but that doesn't really mean it is as it's all subjective!

I'm thinking of moving on my blue Ken Taylor. There is nothing wrong with it, in fact it's my favourite looking bass, got a flamed ash body, super versatile, plays nice and easy.... but that's the thing, it's just too nice! I like both my roccaforte blue ones because I don't have to worry about them, don't have to baby them, don't have to worry about belt buckles etc etc but they play and sound great. Overall the Jazz is everything I want in a bass, however I have found that I do really like my VS4 too, it's my only passive bass and it just sounds really musical to me. It doesn't play as nice as any of the others but it does sound great and I love the colour! I wouldn't be hasty and sell your VS4 as you know at some point you'll want another
Think you are completely correct, it does not get the same play time as the Jazz, I prefer the really thin DK neck and the big off set Jazz body, and despite being wee, that split coil has a whole heap of juice flowing.
Mine is Soft aged, so again not huge issues on wear and tear.
The Jazz I love, but to my ears it needs my pedals I have, the VS4, straight up plug and play, only a little of my Cali76G compressor, but not a lot else.
I am only thinking aloud with my wallet, but I may be able to sneak it in. Only annoying thing is no gig bag or case with it which is a bit naughty.
Although it may sound very similar to what I have, it will be cool!

I cannot recall if your DK has custom wound pick ups i.e wound differently to the standard TT? Whether it has or hasn't you should get a different tone just because maple board vs rosewood. DK should be warmer, the standard should be a little snappier I doubt you'll be disappointed. After all, it's a Sandberg!
DK pups are in house sandberg and are Alnico V's.
The ones on that bass are in house as well, unsure which exact ones, but they 'look' similar to mine.
DK pups are nearer to the bridge in the Old 70s location and so have more bite and bark, but as you said a rosewood board.
TT, bridge pup closer to the neck, but a maple board, so should be subtly different, but prob only to me in isolation!

Well the Sandberg TM2 looks the coolest without a doubt. How can you not love that Metallic Orange and the ‘balls’ of those double humbuckers. Yeah, it’s definately my #1.... my beloved Fenders (although superb) just cannot touch the Sandberg for it’s class, playability and shear good looks and coolness factor.
Definitely a nice bass man!! I almost bought the golden TM 4 but fell more for the blue burst matte I have now. Fender can not beat these basses indeed! How long do you have it?
I have this Wild-child Cort/Sandberg Arona IV with Delano Desonic pickup/Sandberg 2 band preamp , love the transparent tone very much. Provide a Turbo charge and Woody classic Jazz tone through Active/passive switch. Comfort neck profile for my small hand and less than 8 lbs with no neck dive issue.
