Just for information about wait time. I ordered mine end of August and it arrived two weeks ago

I highly doubt that they would have issues with that either. I actually did the same thing as @DavidWeeks and ordered mine from thomann through the online configurator. The wood grain on the walnut top on mine is actually much nicer than what they have on the configurator, and it sounds and plays amazing. Definitely ask some sandberg dealers (with the number from the configurator) what that build would cost, in my case it actually wasn't much more expensive than the same model all the stores had in stock. Just be aware that build times are 6+ months, they might even be longer now.

Aaaah like it!! Mine is a TM4, but the same wood and finish!! Love it!

My Sandbergs. The Blue Umbo has Nordstrand pickups fitted and the older VM4 has an alnico Haussel MM pickup and a G&L MFD P set. I also fitted a more modern Sandberg bridge than the original 2004 model and the latest Sandberg preamp with passive tone control. The VS4 has a EMG passive Geezer Butler P pickup and solderless loom.

That looks like it is a comfortable playing bass if you hang it that way! Check the link. This guy is a Dutch luthier and he just launched this bass and came up with a solution for its unbalance.

What does YMMV mean? They are really pricey indeed and I agree. Sandberg has its own signature to al there basses. I’m not a Tbird fan anyway but I like the Sandberg better! Their headstock too.
