G'day, I've got a Sandberg California supreme jm which I'm wanting to fit a hipshot extender key to. Has anyone here done this or does anyone know which hipshot vintage tuner fits these basses? Thank you.

the top is birdseye poplar. I made the body design by myselve at the sandberg workshop, the pickups are the panther protoypes (handwound by holger stonjek)

Just been updated that my Bass wil arrive end of July! 4 Months build time.
I know the wait will be worth it, hopefully they have overestimated so I have a nice surprise.

normally they need 8-10 weeks. in the moment it's a bit more cause of musikmesse in germany 2 weeks ago and all the new guitars.
some models need a bit longer, like masterpiece or special laquered rarewood basses. what kind of sandberg you ordered?

I have ordered the California PM4 Supreme Creme, lefthanded.
I figure as more people become aware of the Brand, which seems to be happening, the wait time will extend.

the sandberg sales grow always, but the delivery times are nearly the same since 3 years. When they get more orders, they look for new staff. If been at the workshop for many times and mr sandberg himselfe is a good fried of mine. everytime i visit him i see new and more faces in the workshop.

I know the Ken Taylor 5 (or at least, the one I'm looking at) has an adjustable spacing on the bridge ... but by how much ? Does it cover 18mm - 19mm ?

for my PM4, the string spacing can be adjusted from 18,5 mm to 19,5 mm.

for what model you're looking? I think the prices are OK, but in europe we have them much cheaper.
so you have to wait until a couple of basses are ready for the shipping to your distributor, that always needs a bit longer...
but the time you have to wait is nothing compared to the time you will have fun with your bass
if you go for the cali J, and you go through a local distributor ask for the haussell pickups. they make a big difference so some people in this group have found. not that delano/sandberg ones are bad but they have a more vintage vibe.
if you are going for modern (J+M) then ask for the delano hybrid system, it costs a little more but well worth it (in case you dont know the delano hybrid is a matched set of a J neck pu and a hybrid j/MM bucker, the bucker is switch able so you can get the jazz bass tone and you can add the MM in too for the modern edge)

the häussel pickups sound more vintage, but when you're looking for a vintage sound there are much better pickups on the market!
the delano hybrid system is a interesting invention but has some bugs. the jazz bass set is louder than the music man humucker. the most people I know use after a short time of trying only the jazz bass pu set.
I would choose the original sandberg pickups, they sound like delano pickups, but the volume and sounds are better matched.

if you decide for 5-string take care the the b-string sounds well.California JM 4 or 5 strings (haven't decided yet)
the handling of both basses is great, better ro buy both
I have a few 4-stringed California JJ basses and I love them. But I don't care how many strings a bass have when I buy it - I have to like the sound and neck - than it's mine!
