Club Sandberg ?

The Ash and the coil switch were non paying options.

I prefer Ash for its clear punchy sound. That's why I don't like Alder.
Delano PUs would have been a paying option. Sandberg PUs are standard now

As I said I ordered mine at Sandberg (through a dealer) directly.

May be you (the one with Delano PUs) got a little older item.

I've never noticed that California PM don't have it ... I was so focussed on Cal JJ and JM ...
The BASIC KEN TAYLOR seems to have the switch too though.

Yes, you're probably right. I ordered mine from Thomann.de ... it might have been in stock for a while.

ALNICO PUs are not a brand: it is the magnet material : Aluminium-Nickel-Cobalt. (as opposed to Ceramic/Steel)

Almost every vintage PU (and a lot of others: Sadowsky J, Nordstrands, early Musicman, ...) are made from ALNiCO .
They inheritely have more mid punch, better lows and sound in general a lot more organic/less sterile. They have higher dynamics. I think they "follow" my playing better. Effects sound (especially Overdrive) a lot better with those PUs.
The easiest way to find out if you got ALNICOs on your bass, is to fret up the neck. If the sound becomes fatter, you got ALNICOS.
I have some of them in all my basses (or I put them in).

I just find ALNICOS more "juicy" as opposed to "polite".

What "shape" are you interested in?
MM ? J ? P ? Soapbars? 4 string ? 5 string?

I had good results with :
Jazz PU: Sadowsky J Single Coil and Humcancelling, Aero (in my Lakland DJ5), Fralin (in my Lakland JO5), Kent Armstrong
Musicman: Delano MC5 AL (in my Sandberg Basic)
other: Nordstrand Big Singles (in my esh J)

Looking at your profile, I imagine the Delano MC4 AL or MC4 AL/V4 to be good ALNICO PUs for your Terra Bass in case you want to try.

Here's my California PM!!!

I ordered it via Basszone in Milan...It is awesome:extremely good looking;super construction and "fast" feeling on the fretboard.I actually ordered it without trying..but I'm sure i would do it again.Sandberg is a reliable builder and has a very good working customer care.Buy one guys!!!!!

P.s.:what's my nuber?:cool:

I'll have to try a biss with those, if I like it I'll get it the Delano MC4 AL, (how does the MC4 AL/V4 sound in diference?

Also I own a Warwick Vampyre, wich has a low F# string, and I'm not as happy as I could with the MEC pickups in there. You said that the ALNICO PUs give better lows, so I'm interested especially for that bass. Which has a Twin Jazz Bass pick-up (wich can be palyed as a Humbucker or be split). Is there any company wich makes any similar ones from ALNICO?

Thats very true, I had that feeling on all Sandbergs I played... very nice.

Ah, in the first pic it looks like as if the sign :: is glowing, cool effect.
Would actually be great to have leds in there!
Any ideas how to build that in?

Well thanks!!!!!

Nice effect actually...The problem for the leds is the routing:the symbol is too far from the battery...The only solution would be,in my opinion,to make another battery box (wisely a smaller one for button battery)...However I'm not making it on my baby :D

I'm the 11th?!

Hahah I wont make it to on mine, drilling holes in her naaa. Maybe on the next one...

I suppose ur the 11th, the club starter is not around at the moment, he cant leave his fingers of the california.

And in facts, nrssab, you're right, I was away for a whole day of rehearsal, and I can't get enough of that Cal' of mine ... :hyper:
I'm really starting to get completely comfortable with it (as in "playing without having to think about the instrument").
