On the supreme models, I believe the woods are different mainly ?

I've only tried one, but that one was just as excellent as my PM. In my limited experience, they sound rather modern though, even in passive mode, which might not be everyone's cup of tea.

Lovely looking bass there! I've got a Cream Supreme on order at the moment, albeit a 4 string model. I'm thinking of selling my Stingray 5 and replacing it with a Lakland JO5. I have a posting on the moment asking what the differerence is in the tone is between the Lakland and the Sandberg, if the Lakland is too similar sounding to the Sandberg then it probably isn't worth me getting the Lakland in a 5.

The Lakland JO and the Sandberg do not sound alike at all.

The JO is passive and sounds extremely well especially in a live setting and in a good mix. The Sandberg is more aggressive and modern sounding and it has a more in your face presence than the Lakland JO and it is a little more modern and aggressive sounding than a Stingray 5.

I,ve just picked up my second Sandberg bass today, a Thinline custom fretless with lined finger board and quilted maple top to match my original custom. Had to wait nearly 6 months for it to arrive......but it has been worth the wait.
The fretted custom is a quilted maple top, birds eye maple board with gloss body and neck for a vintage vibe.
Hope you like them as much as i do.

I have been hooked on Clover basses, but their basses currently don't have totally what I want, but your sandberg fits the bill perfectly. I really want a bass with Delano pickups, just something about them makes me interested and turns me on.

They don't use Delanos anymore, they are a paying upgrade now.

Have just found out that the JO5 is not available in LEFT HAND, so that's put that one to bed unfortunately.

I got my Sandberg California JM5 Supreme a month ago. It looks similar to Derfel81:s with the same MOP blocks and pickguard, but I went for Cremé body/headstock instead of Black. I waited 5 months for the baby but is shure was worth it, it looks and plays like a dream.

I play through an EBS TD650+4x10+1x15, and it sounds incredible. As has been said it sounds rather modern even in passive mode, but with the splitable MM pu etc I'm still very happy with the available tonal palette. It's versatile enought to take me through all my current projects - a progressive seventies band, top-40 moneymaking acts and some studio work in different genres - and it's definitelly my new main bass.
