Club Sandberg ?

There is always going to be some variance from instrument to instrument given the variable nature of wood. However, FWIW I was initially attracted to my Basic PM4 because of the 2+2 headstock which I knew would limit neck dive (the Fender P I bought it to replace had shocking neck dive). A classic F type headstock on a light body (especially if not fitted with light weight tuners) is always going to have potential neck dive issues due to the laws of physics. MM avoid this problem by having hugely heavy bodies.

I can report that my 'Berg is perfectly balanced on the knee and on the strap, whilst also being very light, giving me very happy shoulders. YMMV.

As far as I can see ALL Fender shaped basses will tilt neckwards when balanced on the knee. This occurs with my two Fenders and my G&L1000 as well as the Sandbergs.
This is due to the position of the the lower waist (which will be more accentuated on a Jazz because of the offset body shape).

To me this is a non-issue as my basses balance perfectly on a strap (which is how I play them). :D

Neck dive while sitting down? Oh come on people. Of those few bassists I see playing sitting down I have not seen one that just balances his bass on the leg, all of them push their basses in position with their right arm/hand.
If you complain about neck dive standing up ok I can understand but sitting down?
And Sandberg do take precaution, all their basses which I have played standing did not have neck dive or just a little, with can be solved easily getting a proper strap.

I don't want to start a neck dive discussion here. If you really want to blame Sandberg for nut building ugly looking things just to take care of neck dive while sitting then do so. But not here, call them personally and complain, I bet they will even build a bass for you to solve that problem.

Did you get any inlays with the maple fretboard?

hello everyone, I'm new to this forum. I live in Paris, France and just bought a lake placid blue JJ5 today :-)

I think it was quite a good deal... it has never been played and I paid 900 EUR (1330 USD). there was still the plastic sheet on the pickguard. I also got a EBS Drome 12 combo also (sounds quite good too, though I've tried the bass on a David Allen combo and there was no possible comparison, damned the B string was so deep and precise on the Allen amp!).

Neck dive in Sandberg?! What? Ooh, my Epiphone Viola Bass, this is total neck dive but Sandberg? Never!

Why don't you friends post your own pictures with your beautiful Sandbergs? It's worth trying!

Don't you tell me, Hnz, you chose the colour of your bass to match the one of the drums? And the new pickguard to match your shirt? Nice combination! (Now I spotted the fingerboard markers on your Sandberg, a costly option?)

Yes, I try to blend it all together. Afterall, I'm a bassplayer! ;)

Actualy the drums were provided by the venue and I change my shirt more often than my pickguard.

Due to some unexpected profit back in 2007, I was able to order this bass just as I wanted it. It was around €1400, I believe.
Don't know what the block inlay option costed, but I'm sure it can be found on the Sandberg website somewhere.

I just hit 8 weeks on my wait time...or is it 9 now...
I have a P/J coming in blackbursssssssssssst w/ an "R" on the 12th fret!!!
I'm a bit worried on waiting w/out any real updates. I've talked with the Canadian dealer, but even that communication is lacking. Production photos would make me feel a little more at ease during the whole process!

I know the wait sucks!!! Anyway keep us posted, I'm thinking of getting one myself...

BTW, anyone familiar with their 6 string offerings? Interested mainly in the neck profile. I need something super thin with a nut spacing close to that of a J-bass. Bridge spacing no less than 18mm (prefer 18.5mm, but will do a 19mm). Was curious if i should start saving the pennies for such a beast.

I've promised sharing recordings made with my Sandberg, The Frog. Here is the second recording in our project. We were thinking of releasing a single but since our leader writes one song after another, that would be an album... I'm afraid he will start talking about a double album soon ;)

I'm delighted with tonal capabilities of my Frog. In this song, fingers and a pick are used alternately.
