This is the Easter time, so I'd like to wish you all the best (not that I do not wish you same everyday on no occassion ;-)).
I've quickly made this Norwegian Springtime song just for fun (and I think the mix is far from being perfect). Hopefully the Sandberg is audible at least in the second part of the song... (German people will certainly recognize this song as theirs, and I apologize for my poor Norwegian) ;-)
The birds are actual - I've just put the mic outside my window...

Is that a coil-tap toggle switch I spy between the last two knobs, or is it just wishful thinking ?
Definitely a toggle.
Was that a custom option or is that how they come as standard now ?

Yes that is a Custom Option, which I didn't even realize. Well hidden I would say.
Just to remind that any bass you order by Sandberg has a custom touch to it. There are many options you can ask for without an up-charge, or if then just material costs.

The normal bridge is great its self, it is 3-way adjustable and once in position it tightens properly. Nothing would ever move on it. The area of contact to the body is kept big, which is an important factor for gaining better sustain. I suggest you have a close up look at it, you will see how well it is made. I specially like (on the new model) the idea of having a moveable cylinder where the string rests on. The only disadvantage is that the string spacing range is not so big anymore. On the older bridges you could adjust a ~17.5mm spacing on a 4 string. Now the closest is ~18.5mm

Yes, This toggle only cost me something like 20EUR and allow you to split the humbucker pickup (coil closer to the neck). This way I can have a P/J configuration and I must say it's pretty iinteresting.

the stock sandberg bridge is a custom version of an ABM bridge, status graphite also use the same bridge but not custom shaped.
they are reaaly sturdy bridges and have great adjustability. as said before through body stringing is not possible.

3 days ago, thief broke into my house and toke my custom California PM 4.
It's passive, with no pickguard and have special electronic configuration (vol - tone - 3way selector - HH state switch).

Nut: 45 mm
String spacing is done with equal distrances between the edges of the string, at least on my bass. I don't feel the difference, but if you measure from iddle of B to E the distance is greater than from middle of D to G.

Have been looking at Sandberg basses for a while, but they seem hard to locate and try in the UK especially in the SW. The main agent Synergy Distribution doesn't even bother to answer emails regarding basic things like width of neck at the nut 4 & 5 string - string spacing for both. I would at least have lioked to compare these things to my existing basses.
Guess I will stay with my Musicman collection and add a Fender USA Deluxe.

Hi pjstingray. I can't help with the 5 string dimensions but my California JJ4 and JM4 have a standard jazz width neck (1.5" at the nut). My slightly older PM4 measures a couple of mm more (slightly less than a 70's Precision width). The Basics I've tried have all had the Jazz width neck if I recall correctly.
As an ex MusicMan owner I recommend that you try a Sandberg if at all possible !
