Here you are, brother! (This Pentax K5, even with standard zoom lens is fantastic once I've mastered some details. Digital photography is hard...)
See the spots/droplets on the head? Yes, I must have spilled something sweet onto it ;-)

I'm not fond of this pic. The bass located in shadow, the picture could be composed and made far better...

Per Sandberg: we always have a separate fingerboard because we use different trussrods than "x"(our trussrods are working in both directions and don`t give pressure to the length of the neck).

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I was using alot of the same brand basses you guys have mentioned and they are very nice and I will probably never part with them. However, I am in love with the Sandberg basees now! The Umbo has changed the way I play, and the pm5 I tried recently is badass!

Hello everyone.
Can anyone tell me what's the difference between a california and a basic sandberg?(let's suggest that both are JM) I see that many of you have chosen california insteed of basic.
I want to buy one of those but I can't try both of them here in Greece..

I have to say, I really dig these Sandberg basses. I have tried out a few in my local music store. They play, sound and look amazing.. My next bass will without doubt be a Sandberg..

I think the only reason people have been buying californias (myself included) kostasgp, is the simple fact that they look and sound like the typical 'fender' style that is so familiar.
while i see sandbergs electronics side of things as a way better option than fenders offerings, and the build quality on the entire range is outsanding.

Basic vs. California JM
Headstock: Basic 2+2 Cali 4 on top
Tuners: Basic Compact Heads, Cali "Elephant Ear"
Body Shape....that's easy
Frets Basic: 24, Cali: 22
There are a few differences in available standard finishes (high gloss is a custom option on a Basic) but other than that, pretty much the same features

The Mouse, have you tried the Basic? It seems lighter and more convenient than the Fender copies. I like the body which is fairly thin and has the tummy cut. Still, it is not a feather, but the ash wood is not really lightweight. My back is not as it used to be, either, but I strap the Sandberg Basic on with far less pain than most of "traditional" basses. However, if you are looking for a feather-weight, invest in some sort of Beatle Bass, I have one from Epiphone.
Kostasgp, in my perception, the Basic is a very modern bass guitar. The neck is slim and very convenient. Tonally, this bass is very flexible, so you need to dial in your tone with the amp, and you'd get tone for any kind of music, I assure you. But it is not like the Fender P that you just plug it in and have the tone like everybody around. You need to tweak the EQ, and also find the right playing position for playing the right hand. The Basic gives totally different tone when you play close to the neck, over the pickup or near to the bridge. I love it!
P.S. The first thing I did after the purchase was exchanging the stainless steel strings with nickels. The SS strings could be perhaps good for slapping, but I don't slap

I'm not a Sandberg owner yet ... would quite like a PM5 but I have a question.
I've noticed the JM5 has a pickup split switch, but that's missing on the PM5 . Has anyone added a coil split switch to the MM pickup on the PM5 (or PM) or do you know if that's possible ?
I'm guessing it's the same MM pickup on the PM5 and JM5 and it is possible, but who knows ...
