I was hoping that I may gain some advice here please. I am thinking of adding a Sandberg to my collection.
I already have a much loved Stingray 4 single pick-up 3EQ and a Stingray 5. I am selling my Bongo 5 as, although it has a great variety of sounds, when I want 5 strings the Stingray seems to be my first choice so the Bongo remains unused.
I have at the moment a very kind friend who has lent me his Victor Bailey Signature 4 string Jazz and again although a fine machine it seems to me a little overpriced. I was then considering a new American Deluxe Jazz but discovered the Sandberg site. They look stunning.
So - I am keeping the Stingrays and want a Jazz or Jazz style addition. I would be very obliged to hear peoples opinion on which model would be the closest and whether it actually replaces the need for a Fender. Can't justify both at the moment, especially as I am primarily a pianist.

I have also tried to make a genuine punk-rock song just for fun, and this is how Sandberg/G-K MB Fusion (DI OUT, post preamp recording) perform in that style:

I own a license of REAPER; I know the program by heart.
I start with Addictive Drums license I have. The program is just fantastic. Before the Psychodance, I had used it exclusively. Now, I will connect our drummer's Roland pad to Addictive Drums. Luckily, even if both the drummer and the leader love traditional sound, they do not mind using the digital technology wisely. For example, Line6 POD XT Live is used with the electric guitar.
I roll off the bass range of electric guitars by Track-S EQ (Electric Guitar Presence) to make space for the bass. The bass itself is recorded via G-K MB Fusion Direct Out after the tube pre-amp. I limit the bandwidth of the bass with the Track-S EQ (Vintage Bass Amp) and compress it with Track-S Compressor.
If electric guitars lack "the meat", I saturate them with Stilwell's Event Horizon. This is not always necessary.
Now, the bass and guitars are in a group (folder) that is generally enhanced with free BootEQ plugin (Analog-O-Matic preset).
The whole recording is trimmed with Track-S in Mastering mode. I prefer Regular #3 for modern sound, and Vintage 1 and 2 for the music of my youth.
Where I fail is vocal and general reverb. I only have Reaper's Reaverbate which gives the 1980's vocal style. I should investigate and invest in Altiverb, recommended by friends of mine. Still, the vocalist is in search of the 1980's tone (we are almost equal age), so ReaVerbate passes well.
Whatever, this bass sound is the Sandberg. I'm shocked with tonal range of this bass guitar. Whatever I need, I get. Regadless pick or fingers, neck, pickup or bridge position, this bass gives me what I need. No surprise I simply think of no other bass guitar ;-)

I've just added this California JJ (or TT as they are now) to my existing JM4 AND PM4.
I have to say that I love it. It has a completely different sound to the JM4 in JJ mode, I can get an excellent traditional jazz tone out of it by just cutting the bass and treble a notch on the onboard eq.

After a couple of months of scouring the Interweb, I had almost given up hope and was going to order one. I had a last "let's just give it one more try" this evening and I've finally found a Sandberg with the exact spec I wanted...
and no 10 week wait! (And a couple of hundred Euros less that I would have had to pay if I'd ordered it).
I've placed the order and hope to get it in the next week or so.
I will post pics.

Hi All,
Just took delivery of my new Sandberg PM5. After 5 minutes I decided to put some decent strings on and now it has a set of Sadowsky Nickel Black Label (40-60-80-100-125T).
Initial thoughts:
Wow. Great range of tones (from passive P-bass style thump, to a really nice punchy Jazz-style tone from the bridge pickup).
Lovely to play. Great neck.
The "B" is really, really tight. In fact, I'd say it was less "flabby" than the low B on my EBMM Stingray 5 (which is always the benchmark for a 34" scale fiver).
It came with a pretty cool gig back (backpack style).
The only downside is, the finish on the body is a little "Ginger" to me... I was hoping for a more pale, more natural finish.
I'm paying a lot for this so I want to be 100% happy. Right now I'm about 95% of the way there.
What do you all think about the body finish? Is it just me?

If you're unhappy with the colour just leave it in the sun, with the waxed/oiled finish it'll soon bleach.
PS Nice score. Sandbergs do seem to be becoming the bass du jour these days, what trend setters we are

47 have been built and each one is unique. Those California models with the 25 frets , strange but great! Further information is to be found on the Sandberg website. Also Sandberg has started a video contest, some videos include the 25th anniversary basses. All to be found on the Sandberg website.
As for the Club, we have been quite some time without new members so I'm posting the list again for the case that anyone needs a little motivation.
