Coated strings for headless bass?

Is there any particular reason that coated strings should be avoided on a headless bass? Does the large set screw at the headpiece damage the coating any more than cutting with wire cutters would?

I'm considering getting the DR Black Beauties or the Neon Whites for my Kiesel ZBM6 because I liked them on my LB76.

I don’t think the set screw will do anything to the strings that just cutting them wouldn’t do.

AFAIK (and I could be wrong, I only tried them once back around 2005) the outer wire of Black Beauties is coated before being wrapped around the core, rather than Elixirs where the whole string is coated after construction. So there’s especially no risk using those.
