Not much to add to what's already been said, I am another who is . . .
- using both Cobalt flats and TI flats . . . like both for what each brings
- watching the 'accordian accessory' on Amazon . . . the price goes up and down A LOT. I just got a set for about $56 shipped free from Germany. Seems a little sketch but I have purchased twice and recieved what appear to be the real thing.
The Cobalts seem to be made for the the Stingray, and I guess they are in a way, both being related to Ernie Ball. I can’t imagine I’ll ever use any other string on this bass, .

I use both on different basses, they sound very different. TIs are mellow yet have good clarity and are balanced in the mids to my ears. Cobalts are like you said a little scooped and bright and sorta modern sounding. If you wanna slap with flats they are very hard to beat. Just try the TIs, they are expensive but worth it I think.I preferred the Cobalt to the Roto, GHS, Chromes & LaBella, but I had two Cobalt strings broken over the past 3 months (I had never broken other brand bass strings in 30 years). So, I'm thinking about trying the TI flats. I shied away from them in the past because I didn't think I'd like their low tension, but nowadays I much prefer low tension strings. My understanding is that the TI flats sound less bright and less mid-scooped than the Cobalt flats. Is that correct? I'd love to hear from TBers who've tried both the Cobalt and the TI flats before spending $80 on a set of strings.
They’re the same strings.A Google search of TI accordion accessory pointed me to an Amazon price of $56, but when I clicked the link, Amazon showed me $78
Anyway, I see two different packaging styles of the TI JF344 flats. One is yellow with a small pic of a J Bass, and the other shows only the body of a J Bass. Is there a difference between the two?
Edited to update:
I created a new Amazon account, and Amazon now shows $56 for the same JF344!
These are the current prices at Thomann USA:TI flats are $95 now for a 4 string set.![]()
I think that might depend a lot on what you have them strung on, no? I can't say the same of my T-I flats.I want to love ti flats....but for flats they have no low end. ...
