Double Bass College audition help: what pieces should I work?

I've half-prepared the following selections:

A number of storch-hrabe etudes
Bach Cello Suite 3 - Bouree I and II
Koussevitsky Concerto
Capuzzi Concerto
Botessini's Elegy

But can't decide which two I should choose for college auditions next spring. HELP!? =]

The Bach Bourrées and The Koussevitsky concertos should be fine, however, you should prepare orchestral excerpts as well.

For orchestral excerpts, I'm still very much up in the air. Any suggestions there would be greatly appreciated =]

I auditioned with the Marcello sonata, the elephant, and a couple of storch-hrabes and I got a spot at Peabody Conservatory, NYU, University of Miami, and SUNY Purchase so I'm sure any of those pieces will do the trick as long as you really kill them. But BE CAREFUL! I was immediately dismissed at Juilliard for bringing the WRONG storch-hrabe etudes so make sure what you're preparing is what they asked for on the school's website!! And I'm living proof you don't need to be a concerto machine to win spots in colleges. They want to see your potential for development, and should be more impressed with your dynamics, bow control, and bass tone rather than your ability to fly through passages.

Thanks! That calms me down a lot, as next week is my one year anniversary on double bass.

Generally, selections from a Mozart Symphony (#35, 39, 40, 41), a Beethoven symphony (#5, 9), and a Strauss excerpt (Don Juan letter A, Ein Heldenleben #9) are pretty standard excerpts to choose from for college auditions. Also, unless a specific college you are applying to asks for a Storch-Hrabe etude, I'd put those on the backburner unless specifically asked for (when I auditioned for colleges only 1/6 asked for an etude; however that might have changed since then).

I would not do Cappuzzi Concerto just because is such an easy to learn song, I know cause I learned it at a young age. Additionally if you want to blow all away I would use Botessini for the difficulty and beauty of the piece
