Double Bass College try-outs

I'm going to be a senior in high school and am looking to go to college for music (probebly music ed) so I was looking at websites and most ask for music-concentration auditions for 2 contrasting pieces and my top school, Temple University asks for "2 contrasting solos from the standard repertoire. 2 orchestral excerpts from the standard repertoire"

So I was wondering what pieces would be good for a person who has only been playing upright for a little over a year and am looking to try-out in the fall/winter

First, do a search. this question is asked what feels like weekly these days.

Second, this is really a question that your teacher needs to answer. We can tell you what kinds of schools are out there and how competitive they are, but we cannot tell you if you have a shot at getting into them what you should play, etc.

That being said, you should probably have a Concerto (Vanhal, Bottesini, Koussevitsky, Dittersdorf), a movement of Bach, a movement of a classical symphony (mozart will do just fine), and a movement of a romantic work (Brahms, Strauss tone poems, Beethoven Symphonies) ready to go for these auditions.

best of luck
