The only semi-west side gigs scheduled between now and the end of year is RIFFS on Nov 14th and the PiT STOP on Nov 21st. Everything else is east and North.

Be awesome if you can make one of them. If so, make sure you come up and say hi and shoot the breeze a bit.

Hi y'all. I don't know if this has been asked but what other resources, other than the dreaded Craigslist can someone in the Springs such as, I don't know.... me, use to find musicians (guitar specifically)?? Referrals here would be awesome if they're allowed :) My original/cover rock/metal/new wave/etc. band is lookin'.

So...
I need a cover party, dance, pop, classic rock, etc band for a corporate Christmas party on Dec 12th in the DTC area.
My band has played the last few events and I need to change it up a bit.

I thought I would start my search with my brothers at TB. I wont be making the decision but I have been asked to point them in the right direction as they love my band. The band will have to dress nice, play clean songs and be fun. It pays more than a bar gig, about the same as a wedding.

we play what we call vinyl rock meaning if it was on vinyl, there is a chance we play it.
Definitely geared to the 40+ crowd.

Hey guys,
My GF and I are planning on moving down there in the next year, so I thought I'd introduce myself in hopes I can get to know some of you. We don't know anyone in Colorado, but decided that the climate fits us the best out of everywhere else we've visited.

I've been a member here for years and have lived in the Minneapolis area for about 25 years. I'm from a smaller Minnesota town originally called Austin, MN. You probably haven't heard of it, but you've probably heard of Spam. It's the hometown of Hormel Foods. Just about everyone in my family has worked there one time or another. Both my grandpas retired from there as well.

I'm 42 years of age now and work for a large consulting firm. I don't currently play in a band and haven't for a long time. I get together with my uncle to jam once in a while and I still jam on my own. My guitars and bass get pretty equal play time, but I lack the drive and inspiration to do anything more with it. I guess corporate life has slowly eaten away at my soul, but I'd love to change that. I just don't know how as it's hard to get out of the daily grind.

Anyway, I just thought I'd share a bit about myself. I hope I'll get a chance to meet some of you through PMs or at a future gathering. One of the things I plan on doing with the move is re-inventing myself. I'd like to get into mountain hiking, and eventually tackle a 14er. It's a tall order, but the hiking I did while in Boulder and the Rockey Mountain National Park was a blast. It was also very therapeutic.

As a transplant, you will definitely find another side of yourself. Beautiful countryside, lots of outdoor activities, craft beer, and depending on your proximity to Denver, tons of music. My observation as an outsider is, the scene is mostly made up of three types of bands (this is very generalized), cover bands, indie type bands with atleast one acoustic instrument, and metal. I hope you like one of these. I went for metal after unsuccessfully starting three different punk rock bands. I grew as a player by broadening the type of music I was willing to play in order to have a band. That's the major positive from the otherwise negative situation.

During winter, find a hobby. Rich folks go skiing. I'm not rich, I play video games when it's too cold to do anything. Of course you're from a snow state anyways, you probably have that already figured out.

One thing I didn't expect when I moved here was the aggressiveness of the bums. Other than that, Colorado is a great place to be. I can't imagine living anywhere else, except to get closer to Denver. It's pretty much the cultural epicenter of the state. Most any big name band, if they even have a Colorado date, will be in Denver. I've missed a few shows because of my unwillingness to make the three hour round trip. Otherwise, even the Springs gets some good stuff now and again. Boulder pretty much has zero scene, but they do have a rad record store ran by some really great folks. Stop by Absolute Vinyl and make friends with Doug. He'd be a good contact for music events, if you do end up in Boulder. His shop is also great with an eclectic mix of assorted vinyl spanning several decades.

I'm sure I have more "tips". The longer you're here, the more you get stuck. I miss the east coast, but I think I'd miss Colorado more.

Thanks guys... Yeah I wanted to move to Boulder because I love how it's situated up against the flat irons. I also like Golden, Westminster, Littleton, and Louisville. I enjoyed Colorado Springs, but there's a different vibe down there, which I'm not sure I cared for too much. I'm not sure where we'll move, but it will most likely be one of those places. If we're moving from Minnesota, we'd prefer being very close to the Front Range, because we want it to be the complete opposite of what we see now. If any of you have additional information that would help, I'd appreciate it. Oh, and I love metal. I love punk. I love rock. I love alternative. And I love progressive as well. So, no worries there. :)

That's putting it kindly.

Green Mountain might have something to offer. If you want to go all in on the mountain thing, consider Evergreen also. I live down in Castle Rock, which doesn't get the credit it deserves as an outdoor enthusiast's place. There's no better place to live if you road bike. But admittedly, when going up the hill to ski, we are 45 minutes away from where people start when they live in Golden.

Where will your office be? What firm?
