Double Bass Colorado???

What's your point? Nearly any player over 30 that plays better than these guys already has a job.

I have no point really. I'm just an uneducated high school student! :) But, almost every job is won by bassist under 30, it's no coincidence, right? It happens at many "bigger" jobs as well. Don't be a hater Paul, you still don't have a job, do you? :crying: It'll be okay man. Everyone gets their turn eventually!

I don't mean to jump in on a conversation that I'm not really a part of, but what do you mean, and what makes it so upsetting? I want to understand you argument.

Most of the bassists I know that have jobs are over thirty, they're just more experienced and overall better players. There are a lot of good under 30's as well who win jobs, but it's up to the judges. Most higher end auditions are screened anyways, so they can't see how old you are (granted they may know some of the more famous candidates, but they don't want to watch you as you play, they judge based on sound). As a judge, I'd find it a little silly to pick a player based entirely on age, or have a "prejudice" against older players. If a person can play well and execute an excerpt or solo with superior musicality, it doesn't matter how old they are, they win the job.

What specific thing are you getting at? I'd just like to know what you're saying.

I havn't read all the posts, but some complain that noone over 30 wins an audition, and then some have speculated in the past about some recent auditions where orchestras drug their feet about hiring anyone because the finalists were too young. Hmmm...

So if you are not between the ages of 25-29 forget about it;)
