Colour decision?

I'm eyeing a new build from G&L. Curious to know what you guys take into consideration when you decide on a colour for a new build or a new buy. What are factors that you consider?

Do you go with what appeals to you only? Do you take into account where and with who you will be playing? Or maybe it's just not important at all to you guys…

I'm just curious.

I favor traditional colors, so what works for me generally works for the band, the crowds, etc.

I choose what I like, but I do not get paid to play, and care not whether the people I play with enjoy looking at my instrument
If you're getting paid, then only you know how much the appearance will matter to whomever is doling out the $.

Depends on the model and look I'm going for. Most recent order is a Kiloton 5 in orange metal flake.

Color is most important.
When I think G&L, I immediately think Ruby Red Metallic or one of their excellent metal-flake finishes.

Generally, no. I like what I like, and providing it's not something really outrageous that draws attention too much to me, then in almost every case, it makes little difference what it looks like. Almost all of my basses are natural wood except for the bright yellow and red Woodbergers.
That said, my little Samick SS is going to get the bright magenta treatment after the move.
