Anybody an idea who used the term
"Coltrane Changes" first???
i don't know, sorry. but there is plenty/enough on the www about what "coltrane changes" are if you google it. i'm sure a fair number of players ascribed the moniker --- at the same time for the same reasons (modulations).
maybe a jazz music historian will pop in to give you an answer. i'm interested to know why it's important to you who used the term first: ?

I think it is not imprtant but interesting... (because the cycle of thirds is a very old thing. long before coltrane...)
yes. trane didn't 'invent' it --- he utilized it (and variations) enough to be given some credit in that 'bop era'...it was re-freshed, by him, and thus "coltrane changes."
but your OP is about who used the term first: who knows? good luck finding out!
