Columbus GTG 2k10:

We (my son and I) both had a great day. I want to thank everyone involved, especially Auzzie-Phoenix and the folks who drove the farthest. Great things can happen even with a small turnout:

  • Learned just how much G-K rules
  • Learned that Sadowsky actually lives up to the hype
  • Learned that Seafoam Green looks slightly different than I thought
  • Got to play a 35,000-year-old bass, of wood from the largest tree ever to grow on Earth
  • Got to play a much "Newer" '57 P-Bass, and now understand the vintage Fender hype (What a great tone!)
  • Got to see some of a fine bass-maker's works and inspirations and learn a few tricks of that trade
  • Got to play a 6-string
  • Was shown how two similar, wonderful Laklands can take on entirely different personalities just based on their electronics
  • Got to see my son discover a bass he really liked
  • Got to meet and/or reacquaint with many wonderful friendly and unselfish people who make me proud to be a bass player too
  • Got to spend a great day traveling with my son, which neither one of us will ever forget

So, smaller turnout or not, this GTG was well worth attending. Thanks, Eaglemoon, Meker, Ewo, Mikeyswood, Bassplayer7770, CapnSandwich, Auzzie-Phoenix, guests and everyone else.

It was fun meeting y'all! Got faces to put with the names, now.

And I got to play an Elrick, and a Sadowsky (with a missing string; musta been the Mark Sandman model or sumpin'...), and see some fine basses-in-progress, and play a Status, and handle a MM with a carbon neck, and play the Sunshine of Your Love motif on an old Gibson.

Very cool, sez I. :D

Thanks to Auzzie for organizing. I enjoyed it a lot and always nice to see fellow TB'er's in person. As usual-some nice gear showed up and of course, instigated G.A.S.!

I hope more show up at the next one----let me say to the no-shows: Its worth it to join us and you leave satisfied. And, the more the merrier!

Please support the next if at all you can.:bassist:
