Combo - GK MB112, Bassman 150, or - well, or????

Prefacing with how much I don't care for this type of thread......

Don't help me choose an amp. Talk me into or out of why to decide this vs. that.

I WANT an easily portable combo no bigger than a Walkabout Scout. And I don't want to spend more than $450. Would consider head/cab but, ummmm, for that price used I can't think of anything.

Use is for playing with acoustic singer/songwriter and stage monitoring of responsible rock cover bands. WAB Scout is perfect, and, well, I'm just not spending $900 plus for a hobby. Anything in the right price range is a 1x15 - and too big for my trunk.

The true question then, am I missing something obvious?

mb112 is very lightweight and i personally love the gk tone, another good model is the ampeg ba112

Okay, well, with the GC 15% off sale this weekend, the MB112 looks like a nice coffee shop/small pub with acoustic singer/songwriter combo. I've got all the tube modeling gear I need if the tone is sterile.

The MB112 looks like a winner, and a good value. But the Roland Cube 100 would also be perfect for your needs, and you might like the amp models. For example, on the "Flip Top" setting, it sounds just like an Ampeg B100R combo. It's tough to argue with the G-K's 100 additional watts and lower price, but the Roland packs much more punch than its 100 watt rating would lead you to believe. The Roland Cubes are rock solid reliable too. So, if you find one, give it a try.

I had a lot of fun gigging my Ampeg BA115. These things can sound allright, have a kickback, and are ported. I thought the style selector was kinda gimmicky until I had owned and played the amp for a while. I used this thing everywhere from rehearsals to outdoor festivals. The DI was good enough for FOH and any place the 15 couldn't fill on it's own.
The weight on the unit wasn't bad either. I could comfortably carry the amp in one hand and my bass in the other.

I remember seeing these on MF for about 350 not too long ago.

I'd also look at the GK MB115. These new amps have been getting rave reviews here on TB. I'm actually leaning towards getting one to replace the Ampeg that I recently sold.
