I think I figured out how to work this thing.

I had a post and got good feed back but it seemed to drift off topic. Which never happens:smug: .

I'm playing a Yorkie CS800 head @ 600watts into a 410 and it sounds vary nice. But it's over kill for many gigs so I'd like a combo. Need something that will cover the room, cut throught the band and has good tone.

Yes, bass combo pole's are certainly nowhere near the price you are looking at. Those are a ripoff. I'd look elsewhere, like Cabela's, Gander Mt. or maybe even a local hardware store that has a sporting goods department.

You should be able to get one brand new for under $100 tops (including some tackle and other accessories). And that includes one that can be used for trout, panfish, and even walleye's and northerns, in addition to bass.

However, for playing bass guitar, I'd get the Nemesis 212. Just be aware that if you take it fishing, speakers don't work well when wet.

Seriously though. I've played through a Nemesis 410 combo and just loved the tone and it wasn't too heavy as boat anchors go.

The 212 might sound awesome too, though I haven't played through the 212.

Smaller cab was a thought but the XS800 head I have is heavey ~30+ I bet and it's racked with a tuner.
Where the Nemie is ~60lbs complete. Smaller, lighter.

I think I'm backing away from the Ashdown Mag cuase it's made in China. I'll pay a little more for something not made there. Where is the Nemie made?

Yorkie 400/115 is ~80 and at that point I should just get a smaller cab. But it's not made in China.

Your right on the thread drift, I should have known better but I went ahead and shot myself in the foot anyway.:o


The York is NA made, little on the hefty side. The only one near me is a 115. I'm not sure I about the 15, I was liking the 210 or 212 idea. Have you used the 115 before?
Also I have the Yorkie 800 now, that's why I was liking the Nemie 212 (+ it's lighter)

I don't have the XS combo, but I do have the XS 400 head & the matching XC115 cab. Essentially the same, but with the ability to mix n' match. The 15 is a very rich sounding cab, but a little boomy for smaller rooms. I wish I could use it in our current practice space, but it's pretty tight in there. Live I've never had a problem with it - not the punchiest cab in the world, but it does have the adjustable tweeter. (which is defeatable in the combo if I remember correctly.)
Currently I run this head through my trusty old Fender BXR 4x10 cabinet. Sounds great.
I'm in a minority I know, but I'm not a big fan of only using a 2x10 configuration. It was never quite "enough" for me if that makes sense.
