Double Bass Compact machine heads

I'm designing an EUB - I want to keep the head as small as possible so would like to use compact tuning machines like the Gotohs on my Warwick BG. However they have quite a small diameter string post. Does anyone know of EUB's that successfully use these, or do DB strings need the bigger post of Fender/Kluson style machines?

IMHO, the gotoh's have a scew on style bushing that fits much tighter and is more capable of taking th extra tension without being rough or letting the post lean downwards. Whatever you do, just make sure you get something high quality that is machined to tight tolerances.
