Double Bass compas 180 suit

as for the 180 SUIT, i'm really thinking of trying them as a more bowable and stable alternative to my plain gut/wrapped gut combo..... does that sound like a good move?

Not sure how stable tuning wise these 180 suits are. They've been on the bass a few weeks now and still need to be tuned up to pitch daily. I'm wondering if they are slipping at the tailpiece or if the strings are still stretching...

I was one of the first testers for them and they STRETCH...like crazy for a few weeks. You will notice a huge difference after that. It was the 3rd week that I really loved them, and they definitely get more stability then.

as for the Compas 180 SUIT, w/ the bow, what kind of pressure do they need to speak well? anything like the light touch you need on gut?

if i'm gonna use something like that on a music theater gig which starts rehearsing end of this month and opens first weekend of Sept. i guess i better get some on my bass ASAP, huh?

(anyone know if there's much ARCO happening in the bass part to Ain't Misbehavin'?)

I tried those a while back. They are definitely more bowable than any unwound guts or Olivs or Eudoxas.

Interesting...I personally find Eudoxa's too tight and stiff, they don't really sound or feel like a gut string (feel, i mean in terms of elasticity, not texture, obviously.) I took the Eudoxa's off the G and D but really liked the tone and feel of the A and D. Surprisingly the Belcanto's on top really matched the tone of the Eudoxa's on bottom.

How do the 180's work for orchestral and solo work with a bow?

there's been mention of different versions or formulations of these SUIT strings, is it understood that by now everyone selling these has the latest and greatest version or does anyone know for sure? i want to avoid getting New Old Stock if i can....
