Double Bass Competitions/Moc auditions

All of the summer festivals that I have attended have had some sort of Moc-Audition, ranging from a student playing excerpts in front of the bass section at the weekly master class, to Playing behind a screen for the section.

Check out the biggies: Aspen, Tanglewood, Music Academy, Pacific.

Then there are a couple of southern ones that might be fun like Sewanee, Eastern Music Festival, Brevard, I'm sure there are some others.

I dunno, check it out.

Just try to get all the players you know to listen to you.
Perhaps get some members of a local orchestra to come and listen to you? Most likely they'll be quite kind and courteous about it, just make sure you get the point across that you're serious and that you're worth their time to get their opinions. If you really want to make a good impression, bring a recording device (voice recorder, etc.)
