saw an ad on CL today for a 'viola bass' -
there is apic of the bass with the headstock not in the shot and this text
Viola Electric Bass Guitar not bad condition for it's era. The guitar is missing one piece for the bridge which you can order the piece. Great for any music collector. Make me an offer within reason.
I emailed and asked about brand..and got back
no name on it , 1970's
Other than the area on the knobs looks odd, it looks like any/all other 'beatle' basses i've seen. The local GC has new epiphone on the wall for $319. this on is missing parts and can't be played. No clue the brand - and my experience has been if they don't put a name on it then it's a cheap thing be that a guitar or a place or a shirt.
So I google and bridge/strings will run $120 ish. I offer $50 sight unseen and get an email back mf's my ****** lowball offer.
I email back with my explantion (similar to what I've stated here) and get back "well, i have the parts and a friend is a luthier and can put it together for me"
OK...so do that - how much do you want? What BRAND is it? Since they make this type of instrument from $200 to $1500 the brand has a lot of impact on it's value.
I get an email back saying 'IT'S NOT FOR SALE I JUST HAD A GREAT OFFER.....' - in caps like that.
Idiot.
YOu don't know what it is, it's broken, you can get it fixed but chose not too, you excluded part of it from your (square) picture (so you cropped it out I think on purpose).
and you have the balls to call my offer low?
I have to assume it's low end unit worth $150-200 in working condition. Take off for parts/repairs and what's it worth? $50 is generous...
