During the seemingly endless rounds of surgeries on my legs after I got crushed, I once came up out of dreamland in full on whacky mode feeling like I had to pee really badly and was fighting to get out of bed even though I could no more walk than fly at that time. I eventually hacked off the lady in charge so bad she catheterized me and added a few extra pumps of whatever it is that causes those things to not slip out. I was waterboarded in E&E training and never stopped cracking jokes while I got slapped around and drenched, but after I got plumbing installed by that head nurse, I was just as meek and quite as a church mouse.I received a pair of compression socks and a nice water bottle compliments of my local hospital.
Went in Thursday for what was supposed to be an outpatient procedure to remove kidney stones.
It was supposed to be just a couple of hours and then go hone. Well the procedure went OK, though took longer than expected.
When I first came out of anesthesia and was still in whacky mode (more so than usual), I kept trying to get out of bed to go to the bathroom. Guess I put up quite a struggle, according to what my wife said, and they had to restrain me in the bed. The main problem was that they had maxed out any IV pain meds though I was still having a lot of pain. Like thison the 1 to 10 scale. They put me in a room and keep me overnight until the pain was under control.
I've had a stone procedure before but this one was a newer more effective one. With this procedure they could do both kidneys in one visit. So I guess as in many things in like there are always trade offs.
Anyway, still alive and kicking and things are beginning to feel better.
And yeah, the socks and bottle were complimentary, but they certainly weren't free.
BTW, I'm still in whacky mode so all is OK.
Glad everything came out OK.
