I received a pair of compression socks and a nice water bottle compliments of my local hospital.

Went in Thursday for what was supposed to be an outpatient procedure to remove kidney stones.
It was supposed to be just a couple of hours and then go hone. Well the procedure went OK, though took longer than expected.

When I first came out of anesthesia and was still in whacky mode (more so than usual), I kept trying to get out of bed to go to the bathroom. Guess I put up quite a struggle, according to what my wife said, and they had to restrain me in the bed. The main problem was that they had maxed out any IV pain meds though I was still having a lot of pain. Like this :mad: on the 1 to 10 scale. They put me in a room and keep me overnight until the pain was under control.

I've had a stone procedure before but this one was a newer more effective one. With this procedure they could do both kidneys in one visit. So I guess as in many things in like there are always trade offs.

Anyway, still alive and kicking and things are beginning to feel better.
And yeah, the socks and bottle were complimentary, but they certainly weren't free. :rollno:
BTW, I'm still in whacky mode so all is OK.

I did that scene on the first go-round.

This time the stones were discovered before causing any pain.
More of a ticking bomb thing.
But there were a lot of stones, both sides, and some too big to be able to pass.
So all considered, it was still the right way to go.

I was just planning on Friday being a lay around all day and watch the bube tube.
Come to think if it, I got what I wished for.

Actually, the Nebraska game I'm watching right now is more painful. :banghead:​

Wish you well on your's.
I don't know if the wacky juice is what it used to be.

Afterwards, they kept telling me that if they gave me any more IV pain med, they'd be concerned about my breathing. I remember telling them "I understand."
While those were my words, I'm sure my face and the way I said it told a different story.

The Oxy-codone they gave me in the room worked much better.

That sounds like a mild attack. I wouldn't wish kidney stones on anyone, well, there are a few...

They are compression socks.
I think they are pretty expensive just from the pharmacy, don't want to think about hospital prices.
They use them in the hospital to help prevent blood clots from forming in your legs.
They advised that I keep them on for 24 hours after getting home.
I often get three to four days out of a pair of socks, unless Mrs. Garage-bander complains.

OK. Got the stents out today. Whew! What a relief!
Feeling much better now, still tender, but should be fully good by tomorrow.

So when the doctor described these, he says a couple of wires from each kidney to the bladder.
I'm thinking B or High E string on a guitar size wire.
The nurse asked if I wanted to see one?
HOLE EEEEEEE CRAP!
I've got a set of D'Addario tape wounds on my short scale.
These suckers looked exactly like that! Black tape wind and all. I'm thinking about the size of my A string!
They were even coiled up at the end like when the strings come off the tuner.
No wonder it hurt.
