I play in a bar band that does rock covers. I just overhauled my rig from an all ampeg setup to a genz shuttlemax12 and 2 markbass cabs (a 210 and 115). Sound is really what I've been looking for for the 30 yrs I've been playing. ( I know that will never last !)

Anyway, there is no on board compression and I think I may need some to level out attack and occasional slapping. What do you all recommend?

This website will keep you reading about compressors for quite some time (and it's a really well-spent time).

My opinion: If you are a compression newbie (as I still am) you will find a great help on a good LED metering. As far as I've seen at Ovnilab, there are only two compressors that offer such advantage: The MXR Bass Compressor and the Empress Compressor.
