Compressor for bass guitar

I'm looking for an analogical compressor pedal. I'm a little tired of digital effects, which I find too artificial.
Most of the items I found on internet is for guitar, and not specifically for bass.
Should it be a problem? Do I loose any quality, any frequency range, when plugging a guitar comp to the bass?
Do you guys recomend any model preferebaly on price range below US$100?

I have the Boss LMB-3, which Bongo thinks fairly well of, you can find it for well under $100.

And yes, a compressor made for bass will have better range, and usually will sound better, though not always. +1 to Bongo's comp page, a great resource.

I use a Keeley...like it a lot. Brightens things up and no loss of bass that I can detect.

I had a Keeley but send it back. IMO it does lose some lows.

For me the Markbass does the trick

It's over, but not way, way over. On my "top picks" page there's a list of the cheaper ones that I recommend.

I gave really good luck with a BBE OptoStomp. Inexpensive but works quite well. I think it ranks right up there on Bongo's list.

I read Bongo's list like every day. I bought a Boss LMB-3 because of it, and have been using it for about a week now. I really like it, still trying to figure out the best settings for it though, and still trying to learn how to hear what each knob is doing.

EBS Multicomp here. Pricey but worth it.
