Compressor pedal

Hey all. Looking for a compressor pedal. I'm not looking for anything to alter my tone in anyway, just clean and transparent peak control. Having a gain reduction meter is important to me. I'm a live and studio audio engineer and so I'm looking for a pedal that operates more like a traditional VCA or optical compressor as opposed to the "compressor/sustainer/booster" style pedals that seem to operate to serve a tonal function rather than just peak control and level smoothing.
Looking at the following models;

Keeley compressor Pro
Darkglass hyper luminal
Boss BC-1X
Whirlwind OC Bass
MXR M87
Empress

If anyone has any insight on these models or other suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Empress is extremely neutral. A ton of functionality in a small package. It can boost but doesn’t have to.
I play an active bass through some pedals and an amp that has color so I chose the empress because I didn’t need any more color in my chain to fiddle with. Kind of a set it and forget it, always on line leveler to take the peaks off of slap and bring up the fast finger style so neither get buried in the mix.
