Probably not. "Requires" is a key word. 300 mA is not even close - it is half... I expect it takes most of that 600 mA just to light up the tube.

I thought about the MB but real estate is becoming minimal on my board.

I had this same situation. Bought one, tried it for a while and loved it but couldn't deal with size and need for separate power supply. Ultimately settled on MXR mostly for pedalboard size. Would love if MB made a smaller version of their compressor.
