Concept Active P-bass

Just an idea I've been thinking about, not sure if it would work or be practical. Got some inspiration from the Marcus Miller signature Jazz Bass, but I wanted to see it more for P-bass. Opinions?

Depends on the pickup you use, if you ask me. Also, I'd throw that output jack onto the side. Again, just me.

Good idea, what about a Active to Passive switch?
And if it didn't have a switch, should the tone stay or would the active preamp make it useless?

I was wondering roughly the same thing. Will the tone knob be a push/pull to switch from active to passive and will it act as a sort of 'presence' control in active mode and as a typical tone in passive?

Just get a pre that also has passive tone control. Nordstrand makes one that's pretty good.

I looked and couldn't find one that has a passive tone control for 1 pickup. But I was just looking at Bartolini preamps, and I never knew that you could use passive pickups with on board preamps. I just assumed that active pickups went with the preamp, but my assumption was wrong.

So that makes me wonder; Will the sound be better with active pickups + preamp than passive pickups + preamp?

Audere make preamps with a passive tone. I have one on my jazz, and I love it.

Thanks Man. I'll be building myself another (not headless though), with an "exhibition" curly maple top this time....the top itself is breathtaking.....
