Double Bass Concerto HELP please!

I have been playing double bass for 3 years now (I mainly play rock and jazz) but I finished learning L' Elephant by Saint-Saens and I need a recommendation for some new concerto(s) to work on. I want to start focusing on classical playing, but I don't really know ANY famous composers or concertos for double bass so I need to figure out what is the next step. I know that L' Elephant is a famous one that is most people's first real concerto they play on double bass, so I'm looking to learn more that are harder... any suggestions?

Also if you know what book it is in or where i can get the music that would help a lot.

Get hold of some Exam sylabuses from colleges and music schools and see what's on the lists there. They are graded so you'll be able to see what's just a bit more advanced that the piece you just learned. This is just the tip of the iceberg. You need to surf the net a bit with keywords like 'double bass repertoire' etc.

I'd say the next step would be Cimador or Capuzzi (In either C or F). Those are the standard first concertos after working on short pieces like the Elephant. Good Luck!

Not a concerto, but check out the Marcello sonatas. They're pretty fun to play, sound nice, and they're about the right difficulty level for where you're at. Capuzzi does make a great first concerto, though, and it would be very much worth your time to check it out. Lots of fun licks in that one.
