I can't get a good slap tone on flats. The "pop" is great, but the "slap" is pretty much silent. I love flats but I want to slap from time to time. Something like Forget Me Nots. Is there a good flat for slap?

not sure if that's a good thing or not.... should I have tried something else at first? I haven't strung yet

I've been playing flats on and off for years started out with them when they were practically the only thing available. I've tried them all just about (haven't tried the Steve Harris's though) the best sounding and playing flats I've found by far are the Labella Deep Talkin' flats, i use their normal gauge 45-105's on two Fender P/J basses and they play and sound unbelievable. They have a texture to their sound that doesn't seem to be available on any other flat I've tried and because they're stiff and fairly high (but not extremely high) tension you can pluck just about anywhere from the bridge to the neck and they still feel right to your plucking hand, never sloppy.
