confused about stacks

I have been wanting to upgrade my amp setup for a little while now as I only really have a Hartke Kickback 12 combo. I do like the way the aluminum speakers sound in them but I am really wanting to go half stack as I have wanted to start playing in a band. Also, I recently got a 5 string and it has problems with the low B string.

The only real stack I've ever played on was a Hartke VX series with a 4x10 cab and 3500 head I beleive. I thought it sounded quite good but I've always preferred those aluminum speakers. I have been looking around because I only would like to spend maybe $300-400 used on a head and I'm not sure if it would be best to run 1x12 or 1x15 or 4x10 for the 5 string. Is the GK backline 600 good enough to run one of these size cabinets or how big would I need? I'm also confused about the ohm ratings on the cabinets and heads since I'm used to car/home audio. Now do you exactly need 300w to run a ceirtian cabinet or will it run okay with maybe 200w?

Thanks for any help I'm just a bit new to the whole half stack thing.
