Considering a Darkglass Harmonic Booster

Does the bass control have a center detent?

I bought the Demon version as a trial and really like it. The bass control is super sensitive and wish there was a zero dB, center detent function.

I just got a harmonic booster and really like it as a clean voicing control. with my hifi rig it gets me away from a dry sound really easily and lets me add color and beef in just the right areas. I have a ParaEQ and much prefer to use it as a subtractive EQ to notch out room boom and clanky upper mids, while adding some air on top. I find myself using the HB and ParaEQ very differently.

I've got the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] of the Harmonic Booster, it's quite good. It's basically a limited parametric EQ with some sort of an aural exciter type circuit in it. Useful tool for live sound for sure.

gosh things like this bother me.

I disagree. I think it is a clean, basic EQ device with a character control which I believe is the same as a contour control that is a subtractive EQ control for mid range. When set to 9:00 it sounds like it's pulling 300 - 400 Hz and cleans up a mix in different way than just subtractive parametric or graphic EQ's.

An EQ curve from a different thread suggests that it may pull at frequency X and Y but also boost at nearby freqs. Not sure this is 100% true.
All IMO.

Hey Gang,
I like the HB is a great functional pedal and personally my favorite in the Darkglass lineup.
I can put my finger on it, but the character knob does more than just mid cut. It’s a shelving style EQ for sure.

Old thread, but I’m looking at the harmonic booster. Would you say this is a really quiet pedal? My rig at the moment is extremely quiet. I don’t want to introduce any pedals that will change that.
Zero noise from mine…
Nothing wrong with bringing up an old thread, it helps consolidate the information.
