Consistent tone using DI and Cab w/Distortion

I picked up a Sansamp paradriver for the DI capabilities/XLR out hoping the speaking simulation would give me a sound similar to coming out of a cabinet. It does slightly, better then nothing, but still getting the fizzy, nasty artifacts that come from putting a distortion into DI. I'm trying to get as consistent a tone as possible so that the sound coming out of bass cabs is the same that's in the DI. I know with acoustics/room tones things change and I'm prepared for that, I'd just like to be able to plug into my interface and not hear a completely different tone then I get coming out of my cabs. What should I do? Would a pedal like an omnicabsim completely alleviate this problem?

Any cab sim should help. It can be an external box inline with the signal, or you can use plugin in the DAW and have the flexibility to choose any virtual cab/mic setup even after the track has been recorded.

Logic has an a IR Loader (Space Designer) and an Impulse Response Utility. You could make an IR using your cab.

The paradriver isn't a speaker emulator. That's why it isn't doing what you want it to do.

Any cab sim pedal or even a simple LPF will accomplish this if you want to do it before it hits the converters. If you're okay with doing it in the box just use an LPF in your DAW.
