Why do people love conspiracy theories?

I think it's because it puts the conspiracy theorist at the center of a drama where he/she is a kind of hero because of his/her special knowledge while the rest of us are ignorant sheep.

The truth is that everyone wants more, and while some will cooperate for mutual gain these alliances are temporary and hard to keep secret if more than a few are involved.

i've been sold on some of the 9/11 ones. they tend to be highly controversial among people who never watched any of the dozen or so different documentaries on it from reputable sources, but of all the people i know who've seen any of them, they get sold that something fishy was going on there.

i've never understood/believed the political motivation for it, but all the stuff about how the buildings collapsed, stuff about bombs in the basement and all that, i can't help but believe based on the stuff ive seen.

anyway, what're we talking about here?

Eyewitness reports contradict so much what the media says.

And the second part is just a question. How did the 3rd tower fall? Trainers of the pilots saying they couldn't fly a Cessna or whatever for **** how could they pilot that airbus

I'm sure any hard-core conspiracy nuts will claim this book is part of the conspiracy (as all things generally are), but for those who are interested, this is a pretty good book on the subject of popular American conspiracy theories - particularly how they've developed and how they became so popular.

Aside from that, all I can say about conspiracy theories in general, is that you heard them from someone and that someone is being paid to say it. If you contend that you can't believe anything you hear from the media, why believe some author or documentary filmmaker who tells you "what is really going on"? Couldn't the conspiracy well be that they want you to believe in the conspiracy? Just my opinion. YMMV
