I've got a cheap six string guitar that I'm going to remove the frets from and install acoustic bass strings on.
I've already removed the frets and stripped the neck of its old paint, and now I'm trying to decide what to do with the body. It took a lot of work to sand off the paint from the neck, and I really don't want to spend the time doing the same thing for the rest of the guitar.
I think I might just paint over the body to hide the scuffed and scratched paint that's currently on it.
As far as sound goes, would adding a layer of paint and polyurethane to the body beef-up the sound? I imagine that it would give it a rounder tone.
Any ideas?
Also, what kind of paint should I use?
(disclaimer: don't worry about trying to tell me not to mess with a finish that's already good enough. I've read enough about that on other forums and I don't care. I'm going to mess with the finish no matter what anyone says)

Course, the Uke was already a 4 string, so I won't have that nasty 6 to 4 switch to make, and I won't have to replace the nut or the tuners. Can't decide whether to make it a string thru body tho' Any advice or preferences?
