Tucson’s own Gem!
Her family has so many roots in Tucson. We recently renamed the Tucson Convention Center’s “Music Hall” to the Linda Rondstadt Music Hall.
Linda Ronstadt in her wee little senorita days and dreaming of how she will eventually conquer the world.

How crushing it must have been for her to no longer to be able to control her voice well enough to sing. Apparently she still sings with the family though. My sister has been fortunate enough to record with her, and she said that Linda made sure ever single line, every single phrase was as perfect as she could get.
I often listen to her Nelson Riddle CDs to bask in the perfection of that amazing voice and especially, that phrasing. I feel she is right up there with Sinatra in terms of brilliance of phrasing and timing.
One of my favorites is when she sang with the Stones in Tucson in 1978. Alas, I was home in NY for the summer vacation so I did not catch the performance.
They must have had a full-time hairdresser on the payroll.

My wonderful, late brother (a fan of The stones, The Beatles, and other stalwarts) always called 80’s bands “Hair Bands.”
