That’s the expanded, post-Morrison version of the Doors; didn’t last long, they did two diminishing returns albums and then realized it was ill-advised to have continued...

This tune got a little bit of airplay, but soon died the death...

That would be ‘Sunn’; developed by their bass player, Norm Sundholm, and his brother, Conrad. FYI, Norm did not play on “Louie Louie”, but was on much of the follow-up stuff. In fact, “LL” vocalist, Jack Ely, only appeared on that one iconic song. Drummer/band leader Lynn Easton was reportedly a bit of a tyrant, booted Ely from the band, and moved to the frontman position, with further personnel shuffles as the band’s 15 minutes ran out.

Louie Louie. Now correct me if I am wrong but I believe that is the only song in Rock and Roll history to be investigated by the FBI. And who told me this one? My federal agent brother.

I thought that profile was familiar. Used to see his brother almost every week at the Filmore, Avalon Ballroom, Longshoreman's Hall, Winterland, and every other SF venue in the Sixties. Quicksilver Messenger Service didn't have a slew of hits but were in the core founders of Psychedelic Rock.

Now, an interesting thing is that the song(and its notoriety) got revived by the 1978 film Animal House, which theoretically takes place in 1962. But the Kingsmen didn’t record it until 1963, and was a hit only toward the end of the year.
