Tony Newton was the bassist in the new Tony Williams lifetime featuring Allan Holdsworth:

Never had the chance to see Tony Newton live. Shame.

But I have seen Tony Williams live. When he was 17. The bassist that night was Ron Carter. Herbie Hancock on the keys. Wayne Shorter on sax. And Miles Davis on trumpet.

I'd wandered into the Plugged Nickel by accident. I was looking for a good blues band when I saw one club with a line waiting to get in. Figured that had to be the best show that night. Turned out it was the first of two nights they played there just before Christmas, 1965. What a show!

I'm sure my applause was captured along with everyone else's. Not rock and roll, but being a photo thread, here's the 8-CD boxed set that has long been out of print. Would never part with mine.
