in 2 photos just minutes apart you can witness the mid '60s era of the good clean hippie flip to the negative narrative heard forever more as the word of what happened a week after Monterey Pop at a free show in Golden Gate Park's Panhandle was heard from coast to coast and the next mass migration to the West occurred by a million kids in hopes of replicating the dream. instead, they mostly floundered in an overcrowded and now bad scene. here the all-girl group Ace Of Cups soon departed the Airplane's truck stage for the next band and the rest was convoluted history...

fuzzy cap guy and Squeaky have interesting stories of their own, FCG raised his hand when a voice called out for a kind driver and he escorted this quiet Black extrovert with Strat in hand to the park knowing he best get a good view of what the stranger was all about. he found out during what Jimi years later claimed was his favorite gig.

Chuck Panozzo of Styx

I saw Styx a couple of times in clubs around Chicago before they made it big. Good band, but I was never big on Chuck's bass work. He was stiff as a board, and played that way. Not interesting. And whoever mixed the '97 Return To Paradise show for DVD ought to be shot. Chuck's bass was routed almost entirely to the subwoofer (.1) track of the 5.1 mix. Totally unbalanced. I had to use the stereo track to make the show watchable. At least the YouTube version is the stereo track. It's a pretty good show.

along with Les Paul, PA Bigsby gave us solid body guitars and their classic accompanying vibrato.
thx to Larry King I got to ask Les about Bigsby (who'd been dead for decades) and he wasted no time blurting out ''I don't know what Paul Bigsby is doing these days but he stole my vibrato!''.

Photography is easy but the first step, and most important step is to remove the lens cap!!! lol!

I used to develop film myself back then, and I remember the disappointment when the whole roll came out blank except for that one photo.

I think maybe this was the time when all the stage lights were on.

I love Stanley! I saw him with Return To Forever on their 30th Anniversary tour. His acoustic and electric solo was superb. My seat was six rows back, in front of Chick, a perfect seat to view Stanley's handiwork. This solo is similar, but not as deep or complete as the one I saw.
