Freed's stardom is one of the wildest and most overlooked life stories in RnR history, without him there'd be a whole different tale of how it all began. he coined the phrase 'rock and roll' but the mobbed up record exec who owned him made it his property, Roulette Records' Morris 'Mo' Levy took whatever he could get his hands on as detailed in Tommy James' tell-some cos I can't tell it all book Me, The Music, and The Mob. lots of bands were controlled by gangsters.
