Robert Johnson.... because, well ..it should just be seen is all.
his last feel good concert and 2nd to last on US soil, Honolulu right after Maui was his last. this is the 1st of 2 shows and it all sounds great vs the original tapes with too much wind. Jimi equals his Monterey performance here IMO, Monterey being his first very American gig. he's relaxed while totally engaged, everything clicks.

Jason Isbell recently with his old band, the Drive-By Truckers. They kicked him out in 2007 for being an out-of-control alcoholic. He got sober 5 years later, built a successful solo career, and now they're all friends again.

after shooting for Rainbow Bridge the film crews left and the Gypsies flew to Honolulu for what turned into Jimi's final US concert. he'd brought his Atlanta Pop rainbow suit and workhorse Strats to give the crowd a fine show which nobody got any pro A/V proof of. the band took some time off then started the Northern European tour that was rather ragged and culminated at the chaotic Isle of Fehmarn then a late jam at Ronnie Scot's in London and the rest was history. but at this point in Hawaii it's clear everybody was happy and still a supernatural force to be reckoned with.
