The wiki photos gave that impression. So, just to understand, the live shows happen in the Pioneertown Bank Saloon? If so, that's amazing McCartney played there.
No, Pappy’s is a cantina/restaurant/bar that is separate unto itself, with a large(but not huge)indoor live music room, then there’s a sliding barn door, stage left, through which you can stroll out to a beer garden. On the other side of the building, there is a walled-in area, like a corral, where the larger outdoor shows take place. The old west structures(nothing much over one story)are on the other side of the parking lot. There’s the little bowling alley, and a soundstage, then all the fronts…
No theatrical stuff is shot there anymore, but quite a few music videos are done in the area; this one was actually staged
in Pappy’s…
The McCartney event was a not-so-secret show after his appearence at the Desert Trip festival, held down in Indio, east of Palm Springs, on the same grounds that they have Coachella(and Stagecoach)every year. That festival, dubbed “Oldchella”, happened only once.
If you go east and south, you’ll be at the Joshua Tree National Monument, a park the size of a small city, where these pics of Keef and Gram were taken…
At the bottom of the giant rock is the spot where Parsons’ body was burned a few years later.
