Back in my "slap happy days" when I tried to slap and pop on everything....lol. I use to rap my thumb joint in black electrical tape like Mark King does (I think it's electrical tape, maybe some special stuff though). He is one of the BEST singer/bass players right up there with Geddy.

If you like Forget Me Nots you have to learn another Freddie Washington masterpiece which is Anita Baker's 'Same Ole Love'. I've been playing it a lot lately. It's coming along. But it's tough to pull it off as smoothly as he does. Check out the master himself here:

Spin Doctors, Mike White found a way to slap in a rock band.

Love that one! Back I played in a covers band we tried to do this one, but try as we might, we couldn't make it groove like this. And since the song is pretty repetitive, without the groove it just doesn't work at all. So sadly we had to shelve it.

I glanced at the title and read it as "Cool Clap Songs" and thought, what the hell, like plain song sung with someone clapping along?

I heard this song when I was a little kid, a friend from Spain showed it to me, and I remember recalling that I loved the way that special guitar sounded, the one making the low sounds. I wanted to play bass before I knew what a bass was.
