Sorry, but putting a split pickup in it does not, in any way, make that a "P-bass".

Was looking through the thread, and got this quote stuck in my craw...
I realize this may bring the wrath of many a TBer... but I agree with this quote... and I'd also say that just having the P-Bass body shape does not make a bass a P-Bass...
To play Devil's Advocate; I'd go so far as to say if it wasn't made by Fender, and it has anything other than the traditional P-Bass split-coil, it's not truly a Precision Bass; but, rather, a P-Bass variation... Thoughts?
And... DEBATE!
I feel a P-Bass is defined by the pickups and body shape combined. My first "real" bass ever was an Aria Pro II with a split coil. Not sure I'd call it a P-bass though.
