Cort action series bass pickup

I have a cort action series 4 string bass and the neck pickup cuts out after 15 minutes of play time. Could this be the tone/volume pot for the pickup or should I be replacing the pickup?

I had the understanding that the ‘Action’ series is active.
If there’s no battery then I got nothing.

The Cort Action Series DLX I just ordered today certainly has a 9V battery compartment.

Pull the volume knob up you switch to passive mode but less output.
