Cort Basses (where to find?)

Ahoy all,

So in my quest for my next purchase I have gone through a few possibilities. The newest entry into the race is Cort's 75GB in white blonde.

I know ZERO about these basses but from what I have read on here they are a great bang for your buck (especially considering my prior options were a Warmoth build and Lakland).

My major concern is that I hate buying basses without trying them out. Mostly this has to do with neck thickness and how the low B feels but I am at a loss as to how I can track one down in Chicago.

Anyone have any experience with these that could tell me what the neck is like, or even a good place that might actually have them in stock? I know its a long shot but what the heck.

Gracias

My guess for finding one would be looking for a local authorized dealer. I don't know how the neck on that model is, but on my B4FL it has a skinny neck kinda like what you find on an Ibanez SR. That bass may have a different neck profile. Wish I could be more help then that.

I just got New Cort Artisan B5 auction on Ebay from a seller called "TheBassPlace". I won the auction for $227 + $30 for shipping. Amazon also sells Corts. I didn't jump when Amazon had Artisan Custom A5z's for $380. Amazon's prices usually go back to normal after only 1-2 sales when they have crazy prices like that.

As far as the neck on mine goes it's wenge/rosewood, has nice fretwork with no sprouts, but the string spacing is very narrow. The jury is still out on whether I'm going to be able to get used to the narrow string spacing in the long term. Great for playing fast I guess or for those with small hands. Difficult (for me) to slap though it does get a great slap tone. I feel more at home on my BTB which by comparison is HUGE!

A beautiful bass, I'm going to give it a few months to see if I get used to it. My other 5'ers are a BTB, ATK, and a Spector and all have bigger necks.

Thanks for all the information. I took a look at their dealer list for my area and there was only one in Chicago proper, two in Evanston (a wee bit of a hike when you live on the South Side), and one in Highland, Indiana.

No websites or emails addresses though. Guess I'll be making a few calls on my lunch break.
